Originally established in the 1990s in Terre Haute, Indiana, ConperioBrew was dedicated to crafting high-quality, locally brewed beer. But as demand grew, so did the challenges. Manual processes led to errors, production data was siloed, and outdated systems limited visibility and control. Rising energy costs and sustainability goals added even more pressure to modernize.
We recognized that to stay competitive — and to truly practice what we preach — we needed to bring our brewery into the Industry 4.0 era.
The Journey to Industry 4.0
Modernizing ConperioBrew wasn’t a single project — it was a strategic transformation designed to connect every stage of production. We began by digitizing our operations from fermentation to filling to palletizing, giving us real-time visibility into performance and process efficiency.
Through this transformation, ConperioBrew became a living example of how the Rockwell Automation ecosystem comes together to deliver measurable value across operations. By integrating advanced tools like Plex MES, Plex Automation & Orchestration (A&O), FactoryTalk Energy Manager, FactoryTalk DataMosaix, FactoryTalk Optix, Plex Asset Performance Management (APM), and Fiix, we achieved a new level of control and insight across our production floor.
Operational Excellence in Every Batch
By automating manual tasks and connecting systems that once operated in silos, we’ve gained real-time process control and enhanced quality consistency. Our production team can now view live dashboards that visualize performance, track batches, and maintain traceability from raw materials to finished goods.
This digital foundation gives us the ability to make faster, data-driven decisions, improve batch consistency, and respond to production changes with agility. ConperioBrew now operates as an efficient, connected system — the way modern manufacturing should.
Predictive Maintenance for Continuous Reliability
Downtime is one of the biggest challenges for any manufacturer. To keep our brewery running smoothly, we implemented predictive maintenance powered by Plex APM and Fiix.
With continuous monitoring of equipment health, we can detect potential issues before they become costly failures. Early intervention has reduced unplanned downtime, extended the lifespan of our assets, and lowered maintenance costs — keeping production flowing and operators focused on what matters most.
Advancing Sustainability Through Energy Management
Sustainability isn’t just a goal at ConperioBrew — it’s part of our operational DNA. Using FactoryTalk Energy Manager, we now track and analyze our energy usage in real time. This visibility allows us to identify inefficiencies, align energy consumption with production schedules, and reduce waste without sacrificing throughput.
By connecting energy insights with process data through FactoryTalk DataMosaix, we’re taking meaningful steps toward our net-zero goals, proving that operational excellence and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
